1. What's New?

First and foremost, Happy New Year to you all!

Well, another Christmas and New Year has come and gone... I waited too late to buy all my presents, ate too much, drunk too much but have generally had a very pleasant and relaxing holiday. I hope you all have too.

My cats Priscilla and Terry are fine, they've enjoyed having the extra company over the holiday period and had their very own Christmas dinner which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Your Cats

I've added a new element to the website this month which I'm hoping will really help to grow it into a cat lover's community and spread appreciation for cats.

There are now pages on the website where visitors can contribute stories, photos and videos of their own cats. I've gone on about mine loads both in the ezine and on the website, and I now think it's time to hear about other people's cats too!

Here's the main hub page that takes you to the pages where you can share stuff about your own cats or kittens:

Your Cats - Names, stories, Photos and Videos

If you can spare the time, I'd really appreciate if you could write a contribution and maybe upload a photo of your cat. It's really easy to do, but if you do have any problems - e.g. with uploading photos or videos - just email me and I'll be more than happy to assist.

I'd love some of my first contributions to this to be from my ezine readers - I feel like I know some of your cats quite well already from the emails you've sent me and would love for other people to read about them too!

I've added a bunch of other pages to the website this month too (I've been busy!)

Cat Anatomy - Lots of fascinating feline anatomy facts

Cat Years to Human Years Calculator - How old would your cat be if they were a human?

Cat Life Expectancy - Things that affect a cat's lifespan

Elderly Cat care - How to look after your older cat

Aging Cats - What happens to cats as they age and how to help them adapt to old age

Cat Gestation Period - How long is it and when will the kittens be born?

2. Priscilla's Column

Hello! If you're new to this newsletter, let me introduce myself. I'm Priscilla, the real brains behind the Cat Behavior Explained website. My mummy writes it, but she'd never manage it without my help. If you've read my column before, hello again!

Here's a picture of me in my new cat house. Mummy made it - she said she's sick of buying me beds that I won't use, and isn't very keen on my latest favorite sleeping place (her pillow) (bit miserable I thought but hey...)

Anyway, she knows how much I like cardboard boxes, so she made a little house for me and put my favorite blanket inside. I like it a lot. My only complaint is that she hasn't decorated the inside... I wanted some wallpaper in there that I could rip to shreds (sigh).

My brother Terry burst a hot water bottle this month. It's been really cold here and Mummy took a bottle to bed. One night it had cooled down to just warm and Mummy put it on the outside of the duvet because she was too hot. Well I seized the opportunity immediately and sat on it.

It was fine while I was sitting on it, but then Terry decided he wanted to sit on it too. We had a bit of a butt pushing contest as both of us tried to get our rear ends onto the warm bit. Mummy was half asleep and told us to stop fighting, then suddenly everywhere was all wet. We both jumped off and Mummy woke up properly when she realised the bottom end of the bed was soaked.

The bed took a couple of days to dry out properly. Mummy said it was both our faults, but I disagree - it was OK when I was on it by myself, it was only when Terry got on too that it burst. I think he needs to go on a diet..!

See you next month!

4. And finally...

One of my ezine readers alerted me to The Animal Rescue Site website which seems genuine and a really good idea. Also timely given the article above on cat adoption and the fact that kitten season will soon be upon us...

Basically, there's a purple "Click Here to Give - It's Free!" button. You don't have to fill anything out, it's free, takes seconds and it's just counting clicks.

The site's corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. The more clicks they get, the more food that's donated.
