1. What's New?

I'm afraid all that's new at the moment is this ezine... I've had an absolute nightmare for almost 2 months now with my internet connection (or lack thereof, to be precise!) It finally got properly fixed last weekend - after hours of calls to helplines and much hair pulling, a friend of mine finally figured out the problem and fixed it. I'm touching wood as I write this, but hopefully I'm now on track to really get going again with the website. I've really missed working on it!

I couldn't send an ezine out at the end of last month for the same reason, so apologies to those of you who were wondering where it was! I also lost a load of emails through the Contact Me link, so sorry if you emailed me and I didn't reply. Technology is great when it works, isn't it...

2. Priscilla's Column

Hello! If you're new to this newsletter, let me introduce myself. I'm Priscilla, the real brains behind the Cat Behavior Explained website. My mummy writes it, but she'd never manage it without my help. If you've read my column before, hello again!

Here's a picture of me and Terry, my little brother. He's at the front of the picture and looks bigger than me, but he's not quite as big as me yet, he's cheating! Mummy took him to get nuttered last month, which I think means he had an operation on his brain to make him behave better. It didn't work - he's just as naughty as he always was. He had this funny walk for a couple of days after his operation. I don't understand why an operation on his brain would make him walk funny but not make him better behaved - I think Mummy should ask the vet for a refund!

We've got a monster living with us in our apartment, in the hall cupboard. Mummy's even given it a name - Hoover. She brings it out for walks a few times a week round the apartment. It makes a horrible noise and eats everything in its path. I hate it so much Mummy now either waits until I'm outside before she brings it out for its walk, or she lets me into the stairwell if I won't go outside. I have no idea why Mummy wants a scary monster for a pet when she's got me and Terry...

I had a few tats in my fur so Mummy gave me a "haircut." I use the term loosely - I think somene blindfolded with a pair of rusty garden shears would have done a better job. I'm really glad I only had a few tats - an all-over haircut to that standard would have been a cringeable embarrassment. I have my reputation as a supermodel and princess to think of, after all...

See you next month!

4. Why do Cats..?

Why does my cat prefer drinking from a dripping tap than from his water bowl?

Cats like their food and water as fresh as possible. Some will perceive the water that drips from a tap as fresher than the water that's been sitting in their bowl for a while. Some will, ironically, drink from a dirty puddle than their bowl - again because they think the puddle has the fresher water.

A few cats will stick their paw in their water bowl and swirl the water round before they drink it - again because they think this is fresher!

One of my previous cats used to follow me into the bathroom, jump up on the sink and get all excited when I turned the tap on for her to get a drink. I think she did prefer the tap water because it was fresher in her mind, but she also enjoyed the attention - in the multi-cat household it was something I did uniquely for her.

5. Just for Laughs

I got this on an email and thought it was great - hope you like it too.

I can't send any emails today...

Something's crashed on my computer...
