Cat Problems - Outside Cat Pupils are Huge and Not Shrinking

This is an outside cat. He has always had big eyes but recently we noticed his pupils are huge and not going back to normal. He acts like he is having a hard time seeing as well. Do you know what could be causing these cat problems?


Reply from Liz (Editor): I'm not a vet, so unfortunately I can't say for sure what could be causing these cat problems, or give you all the possible reasons why they may happen. But I do know that this problem indicates something is wrong and the cat should get checked over by a vet.

I'm not sure if he's your cat? If he's not, and you know who his owner is, it would be a good idea to have a word with them and suggest that he goes to the vet.

Some of the reasons why a cat's pupils won't react to light include cateracts, glaucoma and high blood pressure (which can be a side effect of other cat illnesses such as cat diabetes or cat kidney failure). All of these are potentially serious and can lead to loss of vision if not treated.
