About Me

I'm an avid cat lover (as you've probably guessed!)

I didn't grow up with cats, though I'd always liked them as a child. I used to sneak the neighbor's cat into my bedroom and remember my mum going mad when she found out! My sister and I would have loved a cat as a child but we were never allowed to have one.

I got my first pet cats age 20, when I had moved away from home and out of halls of residence into an apartment with 3 friends. I got an adult cat and a kitten. Since then, I've never looked back and have never been without at least one cat (more usually 3 or 4!)

After I finished my undergraduate degree I did a 3 year PhD. During this time I got a job at the local Cat's Protection League. In exchange for a rent-free apartment above the shelter, I was the caretaker of the building and was responsible for feeding and caring for all the cats (70 - 100) in the shelter in the warden's absence. It was during this time that I really built up my confidence with cats and my knowledge of them.

I think cats are still quite misunderstood - especially by people who have never owned them. One of the main reasons I wanted to create this website was to try to provide lots of easy to understand information so that people are able to understand them better (and therefore able to care for them better).

I work full-time so have built this website as a part time hobby. I had no previous experience of building websites. If you're interested in how I did it (if I can do it so can you!) click the link below:
