Cool Female Kitten Names - Emm

by Michelle
(New Zealand)

We choose this because our new tabby kitten had a big capital M mark on "HER" forehead. We discovered once we had been to the vet for vaccinations that Emm was a boy, but since the kitten answered to the name by that stage, we kept it the same, but just spelt it "M". I'm sure our lovely wee boy cat won't know the difference anyway!

Tia

by Amy
(England)

My daughter had just watched 'Escape To Witch Mountain' and was hooked on this name. Then we got a little ball of fluff, and she couldn't resist. Tia learnt her name no problem!

Reply from Liz (Editor): Tia is a lovely female kitten name, and a great way to choose a cat or kitten name. I've known quite a few cats named after film, TV, book and cartoon characters. I named one of my previous cats Sybil, I got the idea because of watching Sybil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers... She didn't remind me of the character especially, I just thought the name really suited her!

Tia is also a good name because it's short, and the "T" sound is quite distinctive, so your kitten will pick it up easily. I'm not surprised she learned it quickly!

Many thanks for sending in your story.

Chilli and Peppa

A leaflet came through the door just as we were having a chat about the 2 kittens and the shop advertising was called Chilli Peppa!

Reply from Liz (Editor): Great names! The leaflet obviously came through the door at exactly the right moment - though not for the reasons the shop was hoping for :-)

Many thanks for your contribution.

Ms. Mews

(Toronto)

I had a cat named Ms. Claws before, so the idea was around for a while!

Reply from Liz (Editor):
Ms. Claws and Ms. Mews - think they are really cool names, and I'd never have thought of using the Ms. bit at the beginning! Hopefully you might inspire some other people with these - many thanks for your contribution.

Cookie

by Max
(Scotland)

We thought it was an amazing name and was voted no.2 in the top 10 cat names 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007.

Reply from Liz (Editor): I love this name too, we once called a kitten Cookie that we fostered briefly. We thought her new owners would want to change her name but they didn't, they loved it and kept it.
