Female Kitten Names - Calamidy

by Lauren Kay
(Oklahoma City, OK)

A long time ago, my friend had a dog named "Calamity". I always remembered the spirit of that dog, she was caring, funny, and very independent. Anyway, when a beautiful calico cat appeared on the doorstep of my apartment on a cold, New Year's weekend, I couldn't say no to her.

I always remembered that dog and this cat has a lot of that spirit. I live in Oklahoma and Calamity Jane was a cowgirl with a independent spirit.

The reason her name is spelled that way is because the vet receptionist and I did not know how it was suppose to be spelled. Hey, her nicknames are CJ and Dee.

Comments from Liz (editor): Thank you for sharing your story - doesn't matter if her name is spelled wrong, and I'm sure she doesn't mind either... I bet she's just really grateful to have been rescued by you!

You've given a couple of good ideas for thinking up male or female kitten and cat names - if the cat reminds you of an animal you've known and liked before, or if they remind you of a famous person past or present that you admire you could be on to a winner!
