Pictures of cats have proved really popular for thousands of years. From Ancient Egypt, through the Roman Empire, ancient Siam, the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods, cats were painted, crafted, drawn and sculpted. Cats are so beautiful, elegant and graceful this is hardly surprising.

What about today? The enthusiasm for cat pictures amongst kitty admirers is greater than ever - helped massively by the internet of course...
